Vinteloper PN/15 Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir

£30.00

“Analogue Wine” in the words of the winemaker.  A classic car.  Light in appearance yet bold where it needs to be.  Cherry, earth, rose petals and sweet spice jump out of the glass.  Silky and elegant with great length.  You’d struggle to find this quality form Burgundy for 30 quid.

The Wine Front – 93pts

Vinteloper

One of the most exciting young winemakers in Australia, David Bowley is Vinteloper: a small operation begun in 2008 in the Adelaide Hills sourcing top-drawer grapes near and far. The wines taste as striking as they look, thanks to David’s wife Sharon’s eye-popping artistry.

A confessed Pinot nut, David was voted winner of the 2016 Pinot Palooza People’s Choice award, for the most popular Pinot Noir in Australia.

He has the classics nailed on, from those stupendous pair of Pinots to elegant, cool-climate Shiraz and the majestic Odeon Riesling, while remaining one of Australia’s most experimental producers, popping up with urban wineries in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.

Description

From a high altitude site and 26 year old vines, in the winemaker’s words: “This is analogue wine. A classic car. Light in appearance yet bold where it needs to be. It hits you with the perfume of cherry, mineral earth, rose petals and spice to lead out.” What he said… Crushed by foot and fermented with natural yeasts, it sees 33% new French oak for 11 months. You’d struggle to find a wine of this quality for £30 from Burgundy.
