£16.50

Cracking value Bordeaux blend from a beautiful estate in the south-western corner of Périgord.   Striking freshness with great intensity of crunchy red fruit.  There’s something of an old fashioned claret about this.   Savoury, medium bodied and refined.

Jancis Robinson – 18/20 (2005 Vintage)

“This equal blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot on the other hand is SO lively you almost wonder how it stays in the glass. Round, fresh, so refreshing yet with real depth too. Stunning wine already although surely it has a long life ahead. Worryingly, the UK importers say ‘POA’ (price on application).” (17.10.2007)

Wine Enthusiast – 91pts (2014 Vintage)

“Named after Luc de Conti’s father Albert, this is a structured and firm wine. It has juicy black-currant fruits that are concentrated by tannins and lifted by bright acidity. The wine is firm, impressive and aging well, although not yet ready, so drink from 2018.” (01.11.2016)

Château Tour des Gendres

Château Tour des Gendres sits in some of the most bucolic scenery in France, in the appellation of Bergerac on the banks of the Dordogne.

The origins of the château as a wine producer are relatively recent.  In 1986 Luc de Conti and his brother, Jean, decided to plant vines.

They have led the way in organic viticulture in the region, having converted as early as 1994.

Château Tour des Gendres is a household name in France yet it is little known in the UK.

Their wines provide outstanding value; are approachable while young with the structure to age and have wonderful freshness and intensity of fruit.

  1. Rated 5 out of 5

Bloody delicious. Can’t get enough of this stuff and great value too. Great red for the summer.

  2. Rated 5 out of 5

A stonkingly delicious red with an old fashioned claret taste. Exceptionally good value as if a recognised Bordeaux would cost twice the price.
